If I have learned anything about life it’s that nobody ever promised that it would be easy but I do think that our struggles in life are what builds character, it makes us dig deep into ourselves and once we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel we can then enjoy the taste of success even greater knowing that we didn’t give up on our goals and dreams.

Jonathan (“John”) Christopher Adams is now 21 years old. He was not diagnosed with Chromosome 22q 11.2 Deletion Syndrome until about the age of 13. He also has been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Complex.

Kaymon Tywan Wilson is now 16 years old. He was diagnosed with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome at about 3 months old.  He also has been diagnosed with Autism and a speech delay.

Kahlia (pronounced like the flower Dahlia but with a “K”) was born in Pune, India on September 25, 2008. She became a part of our forever family on May 9, 2010. We were unaware of her 22q11.2 deletion syndrome.

Shelby is 17 years old, born in Michigan, but moved to Alabama the week of her first birthday. A cardiologist has always been a part of her life, but she was 2 before we received the diagnosis for 22q deletion syndrome.

Leah Ryan is now 17, and amongst other things she has experienced learning difficulties and problems with fine motor skills since she was a baby – but was only diagnosed with a mild form of the 22q11.2 deletion syndrome when she had just turned 12.
